about

"GOD has two names: Bryan Eubanks and Leif Sundstrom (both of Super Unity Group. GOD actually ruptured Gabe's eardroom. GOD's music is made using cracked circuitboards and a feedback prone home stereo. GOD is great." - OG press release..

So I don't know anyone who knows this CD that doesn't think of it fondly. It's the first GOD CDR. Bryan and Leif lived at a house near Gabe and I circa 2003 and we'd roll over and jam with them sometimes and there was a LARGE cast of characters through there all the time.. It was a really formative time for all of us. Lots of ideas being batted about. Most of the players at the GOD house were coming from a stance of more EAI/EFI/acoustic instrument weirdness and Gabe and I were more noisist and rockist, but we liked each other's energy and there was a kind of momentum of thought and technique going on there that really propelled us forward.

On one of our visits to their house, I remember hearing the sound of moving furniture and creaking and it turned out to be Leif rehearsing on his eccentric disassembled turntable and parametric EQ setup. Basically he removed the belt in the turntable and was using the needle as a way to induce feedback and would use records occasionally as mediums for feedback or texture. One of my favorite shows of theirs involved Leif having a record on the turntable, leaning over to the record and gently biting one edge of it. One of the attendees stood up, declared that Leif had gone too far and stormed out the door. They weren't the most overtly confrontational duo, but the often elicited strong reactions..

Anyway, this is one of the best things that ever came out on JYRK so please listen.
