about

A "tour" CD put together by the gang for the CA leg of the JYRK Jamboree tour in 2004. Real WTF scene with acts like Foque Mopus, Noggin, Bonus, Inca Ore, Axolotl. GOD popped in on the mess in CA after a particularly dark situation on tour where some of us accidentally slept in a house that we were not invited to stay in, had to get up super early to get a new tire and then drive from Olympia to Arcata in one shot.. Still can't shake that feeling of sleeping on a floor and no one knowing.* OOPS. Anyway. The southern half of the trip was less destroyed eventful and was more fun eventful. Lots of confusing sounds and familiar haunts. GOD's CDR for the trip is very good electro-acoustic hum and bumps. very much in their prime prepared turntable and exposed circuitry phase. I swear they'd just breathe on the exposed boards and alligator clips and you'd hear the sound bending in new ways. This is that. real living electronic music played by two people who were going very deep at the time.

[*] Just worth noting that this was at Calliope farm in OLY where the WITTR brothers lived. Their housemate Lindsay from Lakes had invited us to crash and from what Aaron Weaver later told me the next morning she had set us up with a fire in the hearth, warm tea, blankets and pillows. We saw none of that. Instead, late after our gig, we climbed into a dark, damp cabin elsewhere on the property, barely any coals burning, and no clear signs of life. Karl from Axolotl was already feeling feverish and a night freezing while trying to sleep on the floor with six other people didn't help. The next morning at dawn with less than zero sleep we started packing the car and ran into Aaron getting started with his day. I still don't know what was worse - knowing that we could have had a glorious night of warmth and comfort, or knowing that someone might have literally been hiding terrified in their bedroom while a crowd of smelly noiseniks broke into their house and made camp in their living room.
